1 Pair of Shoes, 4 Looks: How to Style Silver Oxfords

I locked eyes with them from across the room as they glistened in the fluorescent lights, beckoning me closer. I was browsing through the racks at Zara’s summer sale when I spotted the most beautiful pair of silver oxfords. I thought to myself, “Dang, these would make me look like a rad mix of Michael Jackson and the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. But there’s no way I could rock these…” So I walked away.

That night, I couldn’t stop thinking about the shoes, as I imagined the killer outfits I could rock with them. My rule of thumb about shopping is “If you’re still thinking about a pair of shoes (or dress, shirt, etc.) the next day, it was probably meant to be, so just go buy them.” Sure enough, I was still thinking about those silver shoes the next afternoon. So I vowed to go back to the Herald Square Zara in New York City to relive what was quite possible my only love-at-first-sight experience (besides the first time I saw Ramen noodle burgers at Smorgasburg, that is…). I waltzed in and beelined it to the back left corner to reunite with those shiny beauties, practically breaking into a sprint because of my excitement. But when I got there, my heart stopped. They weren’t there. And when I asked a sales associate, she told me they completely sold out the day before. My jaw dropped.

I wasn’t sure I would know how to love a pair of shoes again after that heartbreak, but that was until I discovered the perfect lookalike pair on ASOS.com.

I decided to style four different outfits featuring these bad boys for any fashionista out there looking for some ~inspo.~ Whether you’re styling silver ballet flats, sneakers or brogues like mine, I hope these looks can get the creative juices a-flowin’ and inspire you to think outside the box when piecing together your outfit in the morning. Photo credz go to my gal pal, Brittany Valencic, who was incredibly patient with my inability to act like a normal human in front of the camera.

Target x Who What Wear: My Favorite Items and How to Wear Them

This article was originally published on 20some.com.

On January 31, 2016, fashionistas around the globe celebrated the marriage of two amazing entities: Target (a discount retail store/the recipient of my paychecks) and Who What Wear (a fashion-forward digital hub/the source of on-trend style inspiration).

The two officially said “I do” months ago, and the collaboration has been in the works ever since. In January, we were tantalized with sneak peaksof the collection, which tested my patience and got me super excited all at the same time. But the two went public last Sunday, releasing the clothing line to more than 800 Target stores and online shoppers.

When I first heard of this collaboration, I thought to myself, “Yeah, okay… they’ll probably be selling T-shirts for, like, $80.” But to my surprise, the whole line is totally affordable for the average 20something, with all items ringing up at less than $50.

It’s chock-full of versatile basics as well as standout pieces, garnering inspiration from street style around the world. From button-downs and blazers to T-shirts and tunics, the items in this collection have the potential to be the building blocks of your everyday wardrobe.

While scrolling through the whole collection on Target.com, a few pieces stood out and were automatically added to my wish list — a striped T-shirt, a patterned pencil skirt and an oversized trench vest. But, as I always do before making a clothing purchase, I thought to myself: “Would you be able to get your money’s worth if you bought these?” And the answer for all three items was a resounding yes because, just like every item in the Target x Who What Wear collection, they can be worn for various occasions.

I decided to put my love for outfit styling to the test to see exactly how I could wear these items before actually buying them. With the help of my favorite website, Polyvore.com, here’s what I came up with.

How to Kill it in a T-Shirt Dress: 1 Dress, 6 Looks

* This article was originally posted on 20some.com

Let’s start by getting one thing straight: I’m usually not one to follow trends. But this summer, the T-shirt dress has been an exception. Like pimples appearing on a pubescent middle school boy’s face (or like Instagram photos of coffee and sushi, if you’d like a less graphic comparison), these dresses are literally everywhere. Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 and H&M are just a few of the stores that sell these bad boys.

T-shirt dresses are the epitome of simple and versatile—a blank canvas of sorts. Just like the name implies, they’re basically oversized T-shirts. You might be thinking to yourself, Why the eff would I pay, like, $25 for an oversized Hanes T-shirt?? Trust me, those were my exact thoughts at first because I’m on that college student budget, yo.

But then I realized that the options are endless when it comes to crafting an outfit around a T-shirt dress, making it a worthy investment. Whether you’re hustlin’ your way through the streets of NYC or longboarding down a beachy boardwalk in Florida, you seriously need one of these in your closet.

Looking for some ~inspiration~ to help you decide how to wear yours? Don’t fret, fellow 20something—I’ve got your back.

The Intern’s Style Guide: 5 Fun Business Casual Outfits to Inspire You

Ah, summer internships. They’re almost always unpaid and seemingly impossible to get. Plus, applying to them is oddly reminiscent of applying to college. Yet most college students are more than willing to trade in their summers of fun in the sun in the name of resume boosting and connection making at a summer internship.

Landing that picture perfect summer internship is a multi-stage process filled with many ups and downs, all of which I’ve gone through by now.

The sleepless nights spent researching my options and endlessly refining my cover letters and resume layout? Been there.
Anxiously refreshing my inbox in hopes of an email from editors and hiring managers. Done that.
Casually hyperventilating before phone interviews and after that moment when I was formally offered internships. Done that, too. (Sorry lungs.)

As the reality of a summer internship quickly approaches (emphasis on the quickly… I’m packing my bags to move to NYC in one week!), I’ve realized that my wardrobe needs a bit of a facelift. My summery crop tops and high-waisted shorts won’t exactly have a place in the office this summer. If I want to make the most of this summer and be the best intern I can be, I’ve got to play the part, and that means dressing professionally.

The term “business casual” may leave a bad taste in your mouth, rendering visions of stiff white button-downs and grandma-esque kitten heels. But while indulging in a little internship shopping spree, I realized that business casual attire doesn’t have to be bland and boring. It’s totally possible to add your own flair and colorful personality to any business casual look, as I recently learned myself. If you’re in need of some fashion inspiration before beginning your summer internship, look no further! Using Polyvore.com, I created five internship-approved options that will have your hiring manager thrilled he or she hired such a chic intern.

Musings from a stylish summer in Europe

It’s been nearly three months since I landed back on American soil after my unforgettable seven-week European summer adventure. Following a two-week family road trip from Florence to Barcelona, I spent five of the most memorable weeks of my life studying abroad with my three best friends in Valencia, Spain. It’s safe to say that I nearly cry every Thursday, as I scroll through my photos trying to pick out what photo to use for #ThrowBackThursday. Valencia’s culture became a part of me in the short time I was there, and I miss the laidback, relaxed vibe of the people more and more each week.

I planned to blog every week during my time abroad, but I obviously didn’t stick to that commitment, as this is regrettably the first time I’ve posted on my blog since July 2. Though I would’ve loved to document my adventures and fashionable escapades along the way, I found myself wanting to be 100 percent immersed in everything I was experiencing. I probably passed up great opportunities for killer “Outfit of the Day” blog posts, but it’s all worth it for the memories I made. Trust me — I’d love to ramble on and reminisce about my weekend adventures to Paris, Ibiza, Barcelona and Madrid or the times my friends and I stayed out late enough to catch the sunrise on the beach. But I’ll spare you the details and just stick to the focus of my blog — fashion.

I was so stoked to receive the opportunity to start writing for CollegeFashionista, a website dedicated to college campus fashion trends, at the start of the summer. Once my European journey began, I started writing for the “Fashion From Abroad” section, which was a total dream come true. Being a Style Guru Intern for CollegeFashionista required (or should I say requires, as I still write for the site currently!) me to find a stylish stranger to photograph and write about once a week. From freely flowing fabrics to practical purses and flashy sunglasses to funky overalls, the European trends that I wrote about were all over the board.
